Most of the modern-day unhappiness comes from chasing the chimera of individuality. People would be far more content and easier self-fulfilled from adhering to the commonly shared ideals of an exemplary, well rounded type of a person. Trouble is, we are too disjointed as a group by the individuality hunt to appreciate feeling humbled by collective self-realisation.
When we are not conscious of adhering to the collective aspirations, we still get to experience the derived pleasure. Stylistic excellence is case in point. How does the brief glory brought upon by the achieved individuality goals (the state which will be most probably followed by a period of self-doubt brought upon by loneliness of individualistic position) compares to acquiring a stylistic excellence achieved through skill and rewarded by newly found peers who share the same level of ability, insight and feel? It just simply doesn't!
Individuality as understood by most is also too a soiled and diluted concept to carry happiness. One of it's pillars - the collective recognition by a group of an individuality of one of it's members is nothing but dry rot. It negates the whole point of individuality by gauging the support from the mass.
One of the main points of this note is that all that is mentioned above, most probably had been mentioned by someone before.
Another is that i don't really talk or think like that.
Oh, and don't underestimate the power of Religion, kids! Don't know which one, but just don't!

I was dosing off to a not-too-good record when a female acappella rang in my cans and made me jump up: "This is it. This is me. This is all i can give you. Maybe when the time is right you can find me." I sure hope not. Good job the bladder's still holding! |

There seems to be at present no more than three mental jumps from the most sincere sensation of an idealistic awareness to the most profound collapse of its intellectually deduced consequence. Any less would be crass. |

Fascism seeks to organize the newly emergent proletarianized masses without touching the property relations that those masses are so urgently trying to abolish. Fascism sees its salvation in allowing the masses to find their voice (not, of course, to receive their due). In big festival processions, monster rallies, large-scale sporting events, and war (all of wich are today paraded before the camera), the mass sees itself face to face. ( Walter Benjamin) 1936. |
